Text is free of markings. Very good plus dust jackets. Volume 1 has a light bump to the lower right corner front board. Volume 1 published 1984 with no later printing history. Volume 2 published 1986 with no later printing history. Each volume has a small, approx. one square inch spot of light foxing near the head of the spine. This copy is smyth sewn. Smyth sewing is a method of bookbinding where groups of folded pages (referred to as signatures) are stitched together using binder thread. Each folded signature is sewn together individually with multiple stitches and then joined with other signatures to create the complete book block. This is the traditional and best method of bookbinding.
