The British Council By Longmans Green & Co, London, 1943. First Edition. Softcover (Stiff Boards). Very Good Condition. 150pp., preface by author, note on the books, chronology and index. The text is illustrated with six black-and-white maps. Brown coloured covers with pale grey writing and decoration on the front panel and brown writing on the spine. A small, concise book on the history of England from pre-Roman times to time of publishing of book. Very minor of rubbing to the top and bottom of the front cover and there is a little darkening of the spine. The front fold over is clipped, lower right-hand corner. The book has been manufactured with front and back fold over is intrinsic to the front and back covers. This is the first UK edition. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. We seem to specialize in non mainstream stuff but read and stock Science-fiction, fantasy, detective fiction, history, biography and true crime, war, natural history. cooking, children's books and try to avoid current text books.We probably have the largest collection of Science Fiction, Penguins and general crime in Victoria in an open shop ( David has 8 bookcases 900mm x 2200mm of sf and f) ( Penny has 8 bookcases 1200mm x 2400 of sf and f )On shelf each shop has 30,000 plus books and we list over 30000 books online
