Sobre este artículo

he booklet, Spode, George III - George VI, was produced at the time of the coronation of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, and was intended to show the world the role played by Spode in providing fine tableware for the British Royal Families since the reign of George III. The booklet, which measures approximately 5 x 6 ¾ inches, contains 31 pages of text and B & W illustrations related to the 27 examples of Royal Family pottery designed by Spode. A final page in the booklet shows the price, at the time of publication and in US Dollars, that Spode would charge a collector for a replica of any of the plates depicted in the booklet.

The booklet is staple bound in red paper covers with gilt printing on the front face. Both the front and rear free end papers have red stains along the bottom edges, presumably caused by the red dye of the paper covers. The pages of text and illustrations are all in near-fine condition, with only a very slight tanning of the pages.

The illustrations accompanying this description show the front cover, the introductory page of text, and three (3) 2-page spreads of illustrations and text.

Spode is an English brand of pottery and homewares produced in Stoke-on-Trent, England. Spode was founded by Josiah Spode (1733–1797) in 1770, and was responsible for perfecting two important techniques that were crucial to the worldwide success of the English pottery industry in the 19th century: transfer printing on earthenware, and the formula for fine bone china. Sobre Pages For Sages

Pages For Sages has been in the business of buying and selling rare and used books, ephemera, and other unusual items for over forty years. We have long depended on book fairs, printed catalogs, auctions, and the like to support the business. Now, in our later years (ages 90 and 92) we are taking this step to display a catalog of inventory on the Biblio web site for your consideration. The number of our listings will grow as we continue the process of adding items from our inventory - please come back from time to time to find additional offerings.
