Storey's novel tells the story of Arthur's attempt to make it as a professional rugby league player, and Storey was a rugby league player himself in his youth, before becoming a playwright, screenwriter and novelist. This Sporting Life adapted into a film by Lindsay Anderson, who was a leading proponent of Free Cinema. In the publisher's original grey cloth binding, found in the unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, smart. Lightly bumped to the head and tail of the spine, with a little bumping towards the extremities. A little of the wrap is missing to the fore edge at the front board, and the bottom edge of the rear board. With some small closed tears in the wrap to the head and tail of the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Aside from the front endpaper which has a few marks, pages are bright and clean. Very Good Indeed

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
