Very good, unclipped d/j (some bumping, in protective sleeve), 19th impression, blue boards, (a little wear at edges) gilt spine titling; text block firm, pages clean and tight; owner's neat inscription ffep.. 12mo (190 x 130 / 7_"" x 5""). Alec Leamas has ended his time in Berlin. Or his time has ended him. The last of his Eastern agents has been killed, like the others, by the Abteilung. Back at the Circus, Leamas is put on the shelf. He turns to drunkenness and dishonesty and finally disappears from view, a seemingly broken man. But unknown to anyone except George Smiley and his master, Control, Leamas has been given his toughest mission ever. He will have to be himself but more so. He will have to fight off the inevitable softening of middle age and wait a little more before he can come in from the cold. Not even Leamas can know the plan of which he is the instrument.

Sinopsis

The Spy Who Came in from the Cold is a novel by British author John le Carré. Set during the political tensions of the Cold War, the revolutionary espionage novel portrays the intelligence services of both Eastern and Western nations as sacrificing morality in the name of national security. The Spy Who Came in from the Cold received critical acclaim at the time of its publication and became an international bestseller. Named “Best Crime Novel” by the Crime Writers' Association in 1963 and “Best Mystery Novel” by the Mystery Writers of America in 1965, The Spy Who Came in from the Cold was the first work to win the award from both writing organizations. Additionally, it was named the “Best spy novel of all-time” by Publisher’s Weekly and is listed as one of the All-Time 100 Novels by Time magazine.
