Henry Porter is a writer of award-winning thrillers and was also a regular columnist for The Observer. These are four of his standalone thriller novels. The protagonist, a British ex-spy, in 'A Spy's Life' (2001), is thrown back into a world of intrigue and mistrust when his plane crashes in mysterious circumstances. In 'Empire State' (2003), the protagonist must find the link between seemingly random international events, including the assassination of the head of the US National Security Agency. 'Brandenburg' (2005) won the 2005 Ian Fleming Steel Dagger Award. In this work, Porter captures the final moments before the fall of the Berlin Wall. 'The Dying Light' (2009) is a political thriller set in a dystopian Britain, concerned with the issues of surveillance and abuse of power.
