Sobre este artículo

No Place: Hammer, 1988. Book. Good. Soft cover. First Thus. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Offered is a facsimile reprint - with a separate English translation - of "SS Leitheft-Kriegsausgabe" (Jahrgang 7 - Folge 12b, probable late 1941): Der Krieg in der deutschen Karikatur [SS Leitheft - Vol. 7 Issue No. 12b - Wartime Issue - The War in German Cartoons] published in 1988 by "Hammer." The facsimile measures 5-1/2" by 8-3/8" and contains 36 pages including front and rear covers; the separate English Translation insert measures 5-1/2" by 8-1/2" and contains eight pages including front and rear covers. Packed with political cartoons from the German press during the war years; the captions and related text, shown in the German language in the facsimile edition, are translated in the English translation insert. The SS writes, in short part, "These pictures accompany our war against plutocrats and bolsheviks - These cartoons - the work of political artists with an eye for the enemy's weaknesses plus the creative talent to mirror them with pen and ink - confirm the words of the great Nietzsche - that laughter can kill." From the one-page article, entitled "Whoever wants to kill most thoroughly, laughs!" reads in short part, "Comrades! Learn to laugh. For as long as man has existed, he hasn't enjoyed himself enough. That alone is our 'original sin.' The world in which we live is not a vale of woe. It's a place of eternal struggle, in which we must survive 'according to the law we now face.' It demands strong, capable and light-hearted men - We want to prove to the bolsheviks, to Mr. Churchill and Mr. Roosevelt, that Germany not only knows how to fight better than its enemies. We want to prove it also knows how to laugh better. One thing I know - I learned it from you yourself, Oh Zarathustra: He who wants to kill most thoroughly - laughs!" Condition: staples in both the German facsimile reprint and the English translation insert are quite rusted, with bleeding around staples..
