Hard Cover. 428 pages: 6.25 x 9.25 in.: 2.2: KB#011174: Text is all in German language. "This periodical of the secular Franciscans was published for twenty-six years between 1892 and 1917." Boards and pages are clean, unmarked, bright, tightly bound and sharp cornered (except for wear at corners and board edges). Scarce, Out Of Print, Book. "The Franciscans came to Cincinnati in 1844 from Tyrol (Austria) to minister to Germanspeakingimmigrants. In 1876 the friars began editing the German-language monthly, Der Sendbote (German-American Messenger of the Sacred Heart), as an offshoot of their popular preaching. In 1892 the Franciscans introduced a new German-language St. Franziskus Bote, and the St. Anthonys Messenger, since 1893." In 1899, Father Philip (Philip John Rothmann) began a 13-year term as editor of both the St. Franziskus Bote and the St. Anthony Messenger. .
