Preface to the first edition, preface to the second edition, acknowledgements, notes, three appendices and bibliography. The text is illustrated with black-and-white illustrations of stamps and postal marks. Red coloured cloth covered boards with gilt coloured embossed illustration of Queen Victoria and titles to the front panel gilt coloured titles to the back strip. Illustrated dustwrapper, showing an illustration of the penny black stamp, with black and white coloured titles to the front panel and back strip. The second edition of the book that was first published in 1963, dealing with stamps of Great Britain: Volume 1: – Queen Victoria. As the front folder over panel blurb states "A detailed listing and pricing of the adhesive postage stamps of Queen Victoria and the Mulready Covers and Envelopes." Rubbing of the book corners and lower book edges. Age toning and fine scattered foxing to the text block edges. Some foxing to the first few and last few pages of the book. Chipping of the top dustwrapper corners and top back strip edge. Rubbing to the dustwrapper panels with some small splits to the top edge. There is a 1 inch tear to the top right-hand corner of the front panel with associated creasing – please see photograph. Foxing can be seen to the front panel and this carries on to the fold over panels and verso of the dustwrapper. There is a small stain to the lower edge of the verso of the dustwrapper – rear panel. second impression of the First Edition. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. [4], 2 - 216 pages,.
