"Robert A. Heinlein has been for a number of years one of the outstanding science-fiction writers in America. Born in Missouri, he graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis and served as a line officer on destroyers and aircraft carriers for several years until his retirement on a dis-ability. In 1939 he wrote his first short story, which is still in print and has been translated into six European languages. Since that time he has written more than two dozen novels and his short stories have appeared in many magazines both here and abroad. His work has been selected for fifty American anthologies, nearly à hundred foreign editions, as well as adaptation for television. He also has screen credits for original story, technical direction and screen play for motion pictures. He has written with equal facility for adults and for younger science-fiction readers. He studies continually to keep up with scientific developments and his success lies, in part, with bis rare ability to create a believable world of the future by logical projection of current theories."
