Sobre este artículo
London: Printed by W. Flint, for R. Bent, 1803. 70 pp. In later binding with former owner's name on the flyleaf. Despard was Irish but was a prominent British naval officer and colonial administrator who fashioned a interracial British community along the coast of what is now Belize. He distributed land by lottery which allowed blacks, local natives, whites, and mix race citizens equal rights to property. This angered some in power and he was recalled to England bringing his black Jamaican born wife and their son. He became involved in Irish plots to overthrow the King and was hung.
