Lang's reply to a letter from William Neil Manager of the City Bank (Copy of the letter included on the first page), Neil had petitioned the parliament "to obtain from the Country a substantial recognition of the great services you have rendered to the colony.." In Lang's response he set out a list of his "non-political" services rendered to the Government and people of the colony, he listed them under the headings of Architectural, Educational and Immigrational and is not shy in blowing his own trumpet under each.
