Inscribed by Author(s). 1st Edition. hardback, slim octavo, black cloth lettered white to spine, lightly knocked at head and foot of spine, a tightly bound copy in a dust wrapper that is torn with some edge loss and cellotape repairs to the reverse, now protected in a non-adhesive archival film sleeve, foxing spot to fore-edge. This copy is inscribed by the authoress 'For Florrie from Anne, March 1944,' and is further signed by her underneath the half-title. Florrie was Florence, the first Lady St. Just, a letter to her is loosely inserted from J G Wilson of John and Edward Bumpus Ltd, thanking her for the loan of the book and expressing a wish for it to be published in the UK..
