Sobre este artículo

Boston and New York: Houghton Mifflin and Company, 1898. Stories of slavery and reconstruction in the Georgia hill country; alleged by the author to be different from slavery in the flat-lands. Noticably patronizing to modern sensibilities. Thompson did write from personal experience, though, as a Georgia-raised Civil War vet later removed to Indiana, his birth state. First printing: same date on title and copyright pages. Hardcover, full green cloth decorated in dark green, grey & gilt, gilt titling. Light wear, corners lightly bumped; minor staining; penciled name place & date on free endsheet. Text clean; [8], 255 pages + colophon; 8 b/w plates mostly from line drawings by E. W. Kemble, frontispiece by J. F. Jungling.. First Edition. Cloth. Very Good/No Jacket. Illus. by [E. W. Kemble]. 5¼" by 7½".
