Red cloth with a full color 'paste-front' in excellent condition, with just a hint of foxing to closed page edges. Illustrated end-papers; front end-paper has a sweet inscription, dated 1977. NO other markings. Illustrated with delightul b/w line drawings by author. Dust jacket is corner clipped BUT the original price of $4.50 is present on front bottom flap. Rear flap has a list of other Doctor Dolittle titles. Jacket has edge chips with several closed tears (largest being approx. 1" to front panel.) A six page Introduction to the Tenth Printing, by Sir Hugh Walpole, at front. A very lovely copy. Mylar protected jacket.
Sinopsis
The Story of Doctor Dolittle is a 1920 book about Doctor John Dolittle and his animals. This book is the first in a series of children's books by Hugh Lofting. Doctor Dolittle is a doctor who can speak with the animals in their own languages. He starts treating animals instead of human patients.
