Very Good Condition/Good. page edges very slightly darkened with age, traces of foxing to the top edge, dustjacket has a large split top and bottom of the front fold over crease, and slight rubbing with small tears at the head and tail of the spine. Gift annotation on the 1st page dated May 1944. Dr Wassell stayed behind when 12 of the wounded men could not be evacuated to Australia as the Japanese advanced across Java. He decided to remain with the men knowing that he would be captured by the enemy. But he decided to make a desperate attempt to get them out of Java. This is the story of Cmdr Corydon Wassell USNR.
