Author's name is penned inside the cover as well as another, possible inscription by the author. "Compiled from the periodicals of the day and from the Diaries (sic) and Private Letters of Frank Augustus Kimball, California Pioneer." Kimball, along with his two brothers bought a "barren" Mexican land grant, the Rancho de la Nacion, in 1868. They envisioned similar to the neighboring city of San Diego. Uncommon. None found available in the trade. Found for reference and in special collections within 9 OCLC libraries. Moisture stain along the top edge along with light foxing; the covers have faded but title lettering is bright and the text is clear. ; 8vo .
