A very rare copy of a beautifully illustrated book.
The book is ex-library with one small sticker, main sticker removed, two small imprints, and tape markings to the boards. also ink spilt on two facing internal pages.
However, the front board with a colour illustration by Ardizzone is in mint condition, as are his black-and-white illustrations throughout the book and to the rear board.
Furthermore, the complete unclipped dustwrapper - showing the price of 9s 6d net - is also in near-perfect condition, with the book's external illustrations repeated on the wrapper. The upper rear of the wrapper has one small crease.
