Sobre este artículo

Garden City Publishing , 1933. First Edition Thus. Hardcover. Very Good. Illustrated in color with twenty-seven full page illustrations, plus endpaper illustrations, by Kurt Wiese. These includes 4 movable plates with jointed characters operated by tabs. These "animations" were created by A. V. Warren. This book is in remarkably well preserved condition. There is an inscription to Paul Rohe (my father) from his elementary school teacher in Winslow, AZ dated Xmas 1933 in pencil on the front fixed endpaper. There is some minor chipping to the edges of the paper of the paste-on front cover, a minor bump to one corner, with light soiling and fingerprints to the rear board and a few pages, otherwise very clean & bright. All the moving parts are present and in working condition with no creases or tears. In stock, ready to ship now from Evanston, IL!

Sinopsis

The Story of Little Black Sambo is a children’s book written and illustrated by Scottish-born author Helen Bannerman for her children while her family was living in India. The story of a young Indian boy who outsmarts four tigers that threaten to eat him has been noted a controversial with its publication in the United States, accused of presenting racist overtones, primarily because of its illustrations. However, many “American editions” were pirated versions, lacking Bannerman’s name on the title page, that were reillustrated, producing degrading caricatures.
