Descripción:
1913. Hardcover. Good. After the copyright page there is a fold out map that is in fine condition. Volume itself is 286 pages, with thirteen chapters and five appendices. There is wear at the head and tail of the spine and to a lesser extent at the cover corners. The lettering on the front cover in gilt is sharp and very easily readable. The lettering on the spine is faded and at the bottom of the spine hard to read. All in all, given its age of more than a century it is a presentable copy. Available for immediate shipment, carefully packed in a sturdy box!

Spine lightly faded, rear board lightly soiled. 1913 Hard Cover. 286 pp. Red boards with color map of the Panama Canal on front board. Color fold-out map follows preface. Illustrated with black-and-white plates. Panama Canal, lock-type canal, owned and administered by the Republic of Panama, that connects the Atlantic and Pacific oceans through the narrow Isthmus of Panama. The length of the Panama Canal from shoreline to shoreline is about 40 miles (65 km) and from deep water in the Atlantic (more specifically, the Caribbean Sea) to deep water in the Pacific about 50 miles (82 km). The canal, which was completed in August 1914, is one of the two most strategic artificial waterways in the world, the other being the Suez Canal. Ships sailing between the east and west coasts of the United States, which otherwise would be obliged to round Cape Horn in South America, shorten their voyage by about 8,000 nautical miles (15,000 km) by… Leer más
