In contemporary calf boards with attractive chess board design to both covers, gilt edge tooling, corners and edges lightly bumped and worn. New spine, to style, gilt tooling, titles in gilt to a maroon calf label. Internally, [3], 4-93 pp, [1], 1 pl (coloured). [2], 3-122 pp, which includes 120 coloured illustrations of chess moves, whilst the first part has move descriptions, dated AN X indicating 10 years after the 1792 French Revolution ie 1802, gilt tooling to board edges and turn-ins, blue marbled endpapers, text block edges yellowed, printed by Jean-Andre Fischer in Strasbourg, removed tape marks to eps, ink name to both tps (Williams Wynn), occasional ink marginal note, small marginal tear, occasional edge chip. A lovely copy. Uncommon!, copies at Camb, City of Lon and BL only, published initially in French and German in the same year then translated into English in 1817. (Folio, 8.2*10.5 cms). Title continues: Les Stratagèmes des échecs, ou collection des coups d'échecs les plus brillants et les plus curieux, tant dans la partie ordinaire que dans les différentes parties composées ; tirée des meilleurs Auteurs, et dont plusieurs n'ont point encore été publiés. Avec des planches ou l'on trouve notée la position de chaque coup. Par un Amateur. ?

However this does not mean that automatically goods are sent out on approval. Any return is entirely the responsibility of the returnee, and the Post Office is the preferred carrier. Our bank account details can be supplied to purchasers. Mastercard, Visa, Solo & Maestro can be accepted for most transactions. Checks are welcome, but please allow 4 working days for them to clear, before we send the book. Payment can be accepted in currencies other than Sterling but please ask beforehand to agree. There are no export restrictions.
CANCELLATIONS & REFUNDS You may request to cancel a book order or return a book within 14 days of receipt of the book. A book may be returned for one of the following reasons: Item damaged: The item was damaged during shipping. Item not as described: The condition of the book does not match the description on Madoc Books. Incorrect item delivered: The title, cover or edition of the book is different than the title on the order. Item not received: The estimated delivery date has passed and the book has still not arrived. To cancel a book order or return a book simply contact Madoc with your order confirmation details and to obtain the return address.
DELIVERY DETAILS We ship all of our orders via Royal Mail. Orders are usually shipped within 2 or 3 business days. Shipping costs are based on books weighing 2.2 LB, or 1 KG. If your book order is heavy or oversized or a multiple in books we will contact you to let you know that extra shipping is required. Insurance costs are usually dictated by the shippers, should they be higher than normal, then we will contact you for your acceptance.
