Sobre este artículo

New York: The Century Company, 1917. Hardcover. Good Plus. 12mo, 7.5 in. x 4.3 in., pp. 63. Red cloth boards with black title to front. Light rubbing to edges; a few innocuous scuffs to top/bottom of front board. Light sunning to spine. Half inch closed tear to fore-edge of flyleaf. Spine and hinges tight. Charles Michael Schwab (1862 - 1939) was an American steel magnate. At age 17 he joined Carnegie Steel and became president by age 35, working closely with Andrew Carnegie. He sold the company to J.P. Morgan, and became president of Morgan's new corporation, U.S. Steel. Later, he ran Bethlehem Steel which became the second-largest steel maker in the United States, and one of the most important heavy manufacturers in the world. This candid essay by one of the nation's leading businessmen - a "pull-yourself-up-by-your-bootstraps" type of guy - originally appeared in American Magazine in November 1916.
