The engravings throughout the book are mainly the work of Edouard Riou (1838-1900), famous in his day for his work in French illustrated papers and as illustrator of the writings of Jules Verne. Binding of olive-green cloth w/gilt titles, clean with darker discoloration along fore edge, upper corners gently bumped, sewn binding tight and solid. Pages very clean, no marks. Clean wrap-around illustrated jacket, not price-clipped, chipped at some corners, spine head and heel chipped, wrinkled. Very interesting book. 242 pages. 5.25 x 8.25 inches. 1969, Readers Union/J.M.
