This is a lapidary "with strings" date, that sets Bags against lush backdrops by Grammy Award-winning arranger Don Sebesky, who played trombone with the Maynard Ferguson and Stan Kenton bands. Freddie Hubbard's burnished flugeling adds lustre to the proceedings. The core band here is Miles alumni Herbie Hancock (keyboards), and Ron Carter (bass); Billy Cobham occupies the drum stool.
