Sobre este artículo
None: The Burton Club, 1903. Captain Sir Richard Francis Burton is a fascinating, erudite, and verbose personality. Self-taught in perhaps forty languages, his translation of the "Thousand Nights" is still considered to be one of the best. First published in 1886; this is his six-volume expansion on the work. All are in Fine (unread) condition. Black cloth bindings, with titling and decorations in silver on the spine and both covers. Each volume has a black-and-white frontis illustration, with 260, 284, 445, 306, 375, and 366 pages. While this set has The Burton Club listed as the publisher, it does not have an edition name nor a publication date. Penzer places the initial Burton Club edition at 1903 [and did not think highly of them]. Quercus presumes this to be a later facsimile printing, perhaps after the Burton Club no longer controlled the publication. At any rate, a very attractive set that will certainly dress up one's bookshelves. And it will be a rewarding read, as all of Burton is, if one has the endurance.. Later Printing. Hard Cover. Fine/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
