The coming of the railway allowed tens of thousands of people the chance of a home in a rural setting that was also within daily reach of London. By 1900 the beauty of much of the Surrey landscape remained but the pace of life had altered forever. A countryside of agriculture had evolved into one of suburbia, many villages had disappeared, and new towns such as Woking and Redhill were flourishing. Fortunately, the invention of photography meant that this changing scene could be recorded by the early photographers.* This is a NEAR VG+ copy of the 1st./1st. with minimal shelf wear & slight age reducing it to VG.*
