Sobre este artículo

Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey:: Prentice-Hall, 1966.. 1st Edition.. Hardbound . BINDING/CONDITION: brown cloth with black cloth at the spine, gilt spine text and decoration; a Very Good+ book, with a Very Good- dust jacket; the dust jacket is price clipped.. 8vo (9.25 inches tall) . Bibliography, index. Illustrated map endpapers. Description: Includes a section of black and white plates. This is part of the publisher's American Forts Series, as planned by Stewart H Holbrook. In its prime, Sutter's Fort became the nucleus of all new settlement in upper California, the stopping point for new settlers and government expeditions, including that of Fremont and Kit Carson. This book traces the solidification of Sutter's empire, his siding with American interests during the Bear Flag revolt, and the critical part played by Sutter's Fort as headquarters and haven through a succession of turbulent years. Also tells of the Donner party incident, the construction of the Coloma sawmill, and of the discovery of gold. Typography and binding design by Carl A Koenig.
