Autobiography, and final book from of Michigan microbiologist & author Paul Henry de Kruif (1890 - 1971), noted for his 1926 book, Microbe Hunters. De Kruif was schooled at the Univ. of Michigan, from undergraduate through his 1916 Ph.D. He was a Private in Mexico w/the Pancho Villa Expedition, an officer in World War I in France in the Sanitary Corps, and recognized contributor to Sinclair Lewis's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel Arrowsmith (1925) with scientific & medical information supporting the plot. and likely, with development of relevant character sketches.
