First edition; 7 1/4 x 5; pp. 400; 3/4 red morocco and marbled boards; 5 raised bands and gilt title to spine; a small gilt 1887 (erroneous publication date [?]) to lower margin of spine; a few scratches to boards and some rubbing to edges and tips of spine; bookplate of previous owner to front cover verso; a very thin line of glue residue to hinge and a small piece of tape to title page verso; illustrated with 46 engravings by Harry Furniss; overall very good. A handsome first edition of Carroll's last novel published during his lifetime.
Sinopsis
Sylvie and Bruno, first published in 1889, and its 1893 second volume Sylvie and Bruno Concluded form the last novel by Lewis Carroll published during his lifetime. Both volumes were illustrated by Harry Furniss. The novel has two main plots; one set in the real world at the time the book was published, the other in the fantasy world of Fairyland.
