This is a wonderful work of fiction by William Hjortsberg, said to have represented a 'remarkable advance' over his previous novels. This work follows a solitary man named Par Sondak and his life within post-apocalyptic America. He spends his days crafting dreams and building 'magnificent worlds' for the people of the 'City' to enjoy. William Hjortsberg (1941-2017) was an American novelist and screenwriter. He is known for novels such as 'Falling Angel', as well as his screenplay for the film 'Legend'. Collated, complete. In the publisher's original cloth binding, in the original unclipped dust wrapper.Externally, excellent, with no noticeable faults other than a bit of bumping to the extremities and spine, and light fading to the edges of boards.Dust wrapper is very smart with minimal chipping to the edges, particularly the spine region of wraps. Wraps are lightly age-toned to the margins, including the fly leaves and the reverse. Very small closed tear to the top edge of the front of wraps. Author's ink inscription to front paste down. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean throughout. Near Fine
