Against this backdrop are the remarkable, haunting, and inspired drawings of Terrance Lindall along with his brilliant synopsis of Milton's epic, first published in a limited edition in 1983 and anew in this format here in order to excite and challenge students of all ages, but especially the young, to find in the great classics such as Paradise Lost and in the illustrations of the great classics (in this instance his own stimulating and remarkable illustrations of Milton's great epic) the reasons why so many have been enriched by Milton's epic down through the centuries and why this remains true today (evidenced in continuous reports of deliveries of Paradise Lost from memory, in shared readings aloud of Paradise Lost, and in the many publications of critical studies published each year along with various editions of Paradise Lost and editions of Milton's other writings).
