Paris, Librairie Orientaliste Paul Guethner, 1931. 4to (28.0 x 21.6 cm). Title page, 22, 5 pp.; 160 phototype plates with explanatory text leaves. Contemporary blind half cloth over plain boards. A seldom-seen and nicely produced photo album showing ancient artefacts, ruins, and monuments, in Syria, as they were in the 1920-30's. This work includes quite a number of aerial views of towns and ruins. Palmyra, Baalbeck, and Sidon are among the places included. The text, in French, is very informative. Published on behalf of the Haut-commissariat de la République Française en Syrie et au Liban Service des Antiquités, as Bibliothèque Archéologique et Historique Tome XVII. The binding is modest but firm. Slight wear to the board corners only. Unmarked. A very good copy.
