A presentation copy inscribed though not signed by the Nobel Prize-winning chemist William Ramsay, who has written "with the author's kind regards" on the title page. 700 pp, xvi pp. ads, illustrated. Bound in publisher's original charcoal cloth ruled in blind with spine tittles stamped in gilt. Very Good. Light bowing to boards, light staining and light fraying to cloth. Front and rear inner hinges reinforced. Former owner name in colored pencil to half-title page and mark to margin of preface,several end pages lightly creased. Ramsay was a Scottish chemist who discovered noble gases and received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1904 in recognition for the discovery of the inert gaseous elements in air.
