Philosopher, political economist, the most interesting intellect of the 19th Century, Mill was also an important figure in the history of science and the development of what we call today its methodology. Originally published in 1843, this is a Very Good Plus to Near Fine copy of a Later American Printing. Large, sturdy octavo in brown pebbled cloth, ruled on the front and rear covers, with gilt lettering on the spine. Clean text, nicely bright; 600 pages, indexed. Contemporary (dated 1869, at Harvard) signature on the third free endpaper. There are a few penciled notations scattered throughout, but particularly in the section dealing with the chain of reason. A solid copy of this important work. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Later Printing.. Hard Cover. Very Good Plus/No Jacket.
