Endorsed by John Fitzpatrick, President of the Chicago Federation of Labor (and an important figure in the 1919 stockyard strikes in Chicago), and Duncan McDonald, President of the Illinois State Federation of Labor. Strike novel, author notes that it was based on Doyle's experience in a detective agency breaking strikes. Covers strikes in lumber and mining in the C'oeur d'Alenes are described along with the murder of ex-Governor Steunenberg of Idaho. Not found in Blake or Hanna.
