One of the most important theoretical works on avant-garde and modern art of its time.
Contains the essay on modern western art, written by Jan Brzękowski (1903-1983) the Polish poet and theoretician of art, who was one of the chief figures of the avant-garde circle of Krakow. Leon Chwistek's essay the "Tragedy of Naturalism", Chwistek (1884-1944) was an avant-garde painter and also theoretician of art and founder of the expressionist group the "Formists". Przecław Smolik's (1877-1947; ethnographer, writer, bibliophile collector of Asian art) study on art and reality. And the avant-garde painter, typographer and art theorist, Władysław Strzemiński's (1893-1952) essay on the modern Polish art.
