Hardcover, bound in black cloth titled in blind on the front cover and in gilt on the spine. The spine's gilt titling has faded to gray. The covers are lightly bumped. xxxi, [i] & 784 pages plus 6 pages of ads, with profuse illustrations including several full page. The paper is splitting along the top of the rear hinge and there is offsetting to the edges of the endpapers and pastedowns. Very good.
From the library of "Corp. Alfred G. Gumport, Troop 'B' 102nd Cav." with his name penned by him on the front pastedown.
Second edition. "The experiences of over two hundred instructors have been embodied in this text. About sixty officers, each an expert in one or more lines, have participated in the actual production of the book....The initial edition was carefully prepared, including its many excellent illustrations. This second edition had been painstakingly revised in the light of comments and suggestions received from many users throughout the service." - Guy V. Henry, Major General, Chief of Cavalry.
