A life of the well-known fiction writer for boys, Talbot Baines Reed (1852-1893), who led a dual life as a prominent typefounder and the author of "A History of the Old English Letter Foundries" (1887). With material on the Caxton Exhibition; the Boy's Own Paper; the Fann Street Foundry; Typography; the Leeds Mercury; the Bibliographical Society, etc. Crown 4to (26cm). [xii],80pp. Plates, illustrations. Original dark red cloth with portrait onlay in oval gilt rules on upper cover, lettered up spine in gilt; a few faint marks and spots, but otherwise very good. With the printed book-label of Ampleforth College Library (probably by Reynolds Stone) on front paste-down, with associated internal stamps, manuscript shelf-marks, and printed deaccession label.
