[CHILDREN'S BOOK; COUNTING WITH DIE-CUT BOARD PAGES,ca.1912] A TALE OF TEN LITTLE TOYS by Agnes Hucke, published by Sam'l [Samuel] Gabriel Sons & Company, New York, No. 960, Printed in Germany, no date given/ca. 1912 as recorded at WorldCat/OCLC), 9" across x 7-7/8" high, 20 color illustrated board pages with red cloth spine, color illustrations, some text in color, the top 2-1/2" of the board pages are a series of the "ten little toys" on die cut pages so each is visible without opening the book, the bottom of each page (a right-hand page) has a four-line verse beginning with a number from one to ten corresponding with the toy (e. g., Five little wooden toys.) followed by three lines of some activity or situation of the number of toys (the book is a learn-to-count book for young children), the front cover is for the number 10, the illustration and verse on the back cover is about a girl washing her cat, RARE, only one early edition found for sale, 4 recorded at WorldCat/OCLC(4/15/21) /// CONDITION: very good, varying degrees of age-toning most notably to series of toys across top of book, small loss of surface color to top of toy at left end of series cutting off small part of its forehead and hat, loss of board to toy at right end with loss of most of its head, taped repairs to third toy from left and toy at right end to retain surface color by previous owner (tape browned), about 5-3/4" shallow surface loss across top right of back cover not affecting illustration or text, one interior page (for number 3) detached but present, a few inner hinges and a few short breaks in board pages repaired by previous owner with tape (tape browned), some light transparent soiling mostly to front cover, a relatively well-preserved children's book with varied surface defects and wear as described.
