Spine stamped in gold. 16mo. 4-5/8" x 5-11/16." 137 pp. Previous owner's inscription dated 1852 on free front endpaper. Curious thin thread sewn through front flyleaf with a few stitches, probably to affix a label or note which has long since disappeared. Heavy foxing throughout. The last signature is beginning to loosen a bit. Overall a very nice copy.. Twenty-one chapters of adventure from witnessing the eruption of Mt. Etna to adventure on the high seas and travels through Africa.
