Illustrated; black and white and color tinted. Frontispiece. Tales from Shakespeare is the retelling in prose and retaining as much of Shakespearean language as possible of 11 works. Contents: The Tempest; A Midsummer Night's Dream; Much Ado About Nothing; As You Like It; The Merchant of Venice; King Lear; MacBeth; Twelfth Night : or, What You Will; Romeo and Juliet; Hamlet, Prince of Denmark; Othello. Good only with worn edges, bent corners; front and back hinge has paper loss and the final leaf is loose. There are some page creases and one closed tear. Former owners name is on the ffep with the date 1903. Mary Lamb (1764-1847) and her brother Charles are best known for this work - Tales from Shakespeare- .
