Sobre este artículo

New York: Bantam Books (1726). Very Good+. 1958. 1st Edition (pbo). Softcover. [quite a decent copy, nice and tight, with a bit of wear to the spine extremities and a couple of very short diagonal creases at the corners of the front cover, a tiny stray pen-mark on the rear cover]. Mass Market PB "Stories of the men who made the legends, the tough, daring, unbeatable men who drove the bullion-laden coahes on the outlaw-ridden trails." A tie-in with the NBC-TV series, which aired for five seasons (1957-1962); its star, Dale Robertson, is pictured in a small photo on the rear cover. The eight stories in this book were all adapted from episodes in the series' first two seasons, half of them teleplayed by series co-creator Frank Gruber; several of the others were based on episodes written by Steve Fisher, based on Gruber's original stories. (Both Gruber and Fisher were veteran hacks who had emerged from the pulp-magazine world of the 1920s and 1930s, and also had numerous novels to their credit. Gruber even wrote a book about his experiences, called "The Pulp Jungle.") Many of the series' episodes dealt with real-life outlaws and gunslingers; there are stories here about Billy the Kid, Sam Bass, Belle Starr, and John Wesley Hardin. .

Reseñas

El Mar 13 2020, un lector dijo:
Tales of Wells Fargo contains eight short stories based on the T V show of the same name from the late 50's to early 60's starring Dale Robertson. Frank Gruber created the series and wrote many of the screenplays or the stories on which the screenplays were written. In this book you will meet many historical personages and places--Billy the Kid, Wyatt Earp, Bat Masterson, the OK Corral, the Pony Express, and other well known icons of the West. Frank Gruber was known for this technique, and his history was often contrived to fit the fiction he was writing as to time and place, but basicly this was in accordance to the beliefs of the day about these things. Only in the last few years has there been any real effort to examine the "facts" more closely. Overall these are good stories, entertaining stories.
