Dust jacket has small closed tear near spine, and chip on front with some loss; now in new removable protective cover. Maroon boards with black print on spine and front. Brief gift inscription on front free end paper. Pages are clean and unmarked, toning. War time printing, with paper conservation notice on title page. This is the Madison Square edition of 1943, originally sold for 50 cents. Grosset & Dunlap hard cover with dust jacket, 1943 reprint, 350 pages, cover art by J. Allen St. John. 12mo (7.5"" x 5.25"") 5th book in the Tarzan series, preceded by The Son of Tarzan and followed by Jungle Tales of Tarzan and many others. It first appeared in the November and December issues of All-Story Cavalier Weekly in 1916, and the first book publication was by McClurg in 1918.
