"Tarzan, Lord of the Jungle is not just another chapter in the famous ape-man's thrilling career, it is by far greater than any other of the wonderful series of Tarzan stories. The name of Tarzan alone is a promise of thrills that has never disappointed a reader. In none of his celebrated books has Edgar Rice Burroughs equalled the charm and vivid sensational appeal of the exciting adventures that he has written into Tarzan, Lord of the Jungle. It is an epic of wilderness adventure, wholly unique and wholly delightful. Astounding, enthralling and matchless in interest are these latest exploits of Tarzan- the most original and fascinating character in modern fiction." (from back panel).

The great yellow fangs were bared against his throat as Tarzan opened his eyes...
