Sobre este artículo

New York: G.P. Putnam's, 1951. First edition. 8vo.8-1/4" x 5-5/8". 282 pp. Price on dust jacket front flap is $3.00. Dust jacket signed by Arno. Book is in fine condition./Jacket has a 1/2" deep chip at top of spine, a 1/4:" chip at bottom of spine and three much smaller chips along top and bottom edges. Also front panel has a 3" closed tear, a 1-1/2" taped tear with resulting creasing. So, I would only grade this a good jacket. It is still attractive in it's protective glassine.. A first edition of Vern Sneider's first novel, The Teahouse of the August Moon, is full of charm and gentle wisdom - and also very funny. In the debut of this first novel Sneider revealed himself as a brilliant talent, a writer of fluent invention with a gift of satire. This story was adapted for a Broadway play in 1953 and for a motion picture in 1956. John Patrick's adaptation won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1954. Sneider served in the Pacific during World War II and in 1945 was area supervisor at Tobaru, a village on Okinawa.
