The Duchess of York at this time was the Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, who became Queen when her husband, Prince Albert, acceded to the throne as George VI in 1936. The book was dedicated to The Princess Elizabeth, now Her Majesty the Queen, Elizabeth II, who was born in 1926.
