Octavo. 495, [3] pp. Printed wrappers with pictorial dust jacket. Spine and edges with a bit of very light foxing, very near fine in a lightly toned, very good dust jacket with several tiny nicks and tears. A very presentable copy of the posthumously-published second edition of Kazantzakis' controversial novel. Basis for the Academy Award-nominated 1988 film *The Last Temptation of Christ*, directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Willem Defoe, Barbara Hershey, Harvey Keitel, and David Bowie as Pontius Pilate. With two sets of two mimeographed sheets laid in, one in English and one in Greek, relating to portions of Kazantzakis' translation of *The Odysssey* set to music by William Gay Bottje.
