Enormously controversial in its day, Dr Sol Gordon's "Ten Facts," directed at adolescents, was the most popular of his "Zing Comix" series. By 1974, as the New York Times reports, 625,000 copies had been sold. With a strong hippie - psychedelic vibe, using what today seems like a pragmatic, non-judgmental approach, Gordon covers masturbation, homosexuality, perversion, venereal disease, penis size, pornography, abortion, and more. Banned from general distribution at the State Fair in Syracuse, an appeal brought by the ACLU was denied in 1974 because, while not obscene, the publication "suggests that sodomy is acceptable and it surely condones and encourages homosexuality and bisexuality, if one is so inclined, while conceding that the majority of the people favor heterosexuality."
