[2], 323, [1] pp. Contemporary calf, worn, leather dry and abraded; leather of spine and joints chipped with loss; one corner of front cover worn away; ex-library with all the usual markings, bookplate, and some pencil ones; textblock is largely free of toning or foxing. Whether Cardinal Richelieu wrote this "Political testament" or whether it was Paul Hay, marquis du Chatelet (as some have suggested), the work remains an important work on state craft and advice to a ruler on government. Text in French.
