Isaac Duval (1824-1902) was an American adventurer and businessm an prior to becoming a brigadier general in the Union Army during the American Civil War. As a young man, he traveled to Fort Smit h, Arkansas, where he joined an elder brother who was running a t rading post. Afterward, he became a western and mountain scout, v enturing to the California Gold Rush in 1849. This book records D uval's reminiscences of the Gila Trail journey from Texas to the Mother Lode Mines. Kurutz: The California Gold Rush, No 212.
